Commenting on the Committee on Climate Change's report on the Government's progress towards fulfilling emissions reduction targets, Jenny Willott, Welsh Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central, said:
"Labour's tinkering approach to cutting UK carbon emissions is woefully inadequate.
"There is a small window of opportunity for us to stabilise global greenhouse gas emissions and start to reduce them. This simply won't happen if the government relies on its soft touch market-based approach.
"The government's tinkering must end. It is time to think big. At the very least, we need to shift taxes away from people on to pollution, invest in a massive expansion of renewable energy sources and put in place a national household insulation programme."
