What we think

The Government is proposing to make it compulsory for anyone applying for a driving license or new passport also to get an ID card. The Lib Dems are strongly opposed to this. We believe that the National Identity Card scheme will be hugely costly and will do nothing to improve the security of the country. We propose re-investing the money saved by not introducing identity cards on extra police and police resources.
